Biofuels: good or bad? I don’t have a car and use 100% renewable electricity for all my power and heat requirements in my small apartment. So would I consider people going hungry so others can power their vehicles? It’s not an easy question, because much of the stuff we buy and need is facilitated by the use biofuels. The use of liquid fuel is far too pervasive in society to just switch off the fuel pumps Monday morning. Realistically, a sufficient percentage of the fleets of commercial vehicles need to be adapted to alternative sources of power to really stop food turning into fuel.
